Mid-West GIS has hired Tara Seiler to fill the position of GIS Account Manager. Tara is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse and will work out of Wisconsin Dells. Tara will be responsible for the development of business opportunities as well as client support for the areas of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Northern Iowa.

Pike County, Illinois has contracted with Mid-West GIS for GIS Consulting Services. This will include updating a GIS Implementation Plan that was created in 2001, as well as general GIS Consulting Services.

DeWitt County Highway Department has selected Mid-West GIS to create a sign inventory for the County, Township, and Municipal roads. GPS technology will be used in the collection of all signs, as well as specific attributes that are collected in the field. This data will be incorporated into a GIS and delivered to the County to be used as the official sign inventory. Work will begin on this project August 17, 2009 and is scheduled to be complete by the end of September 2009.

Mid-West GIS has been contracted by the Sidwell Company out of St Charles, IL to collect approximately 8,000 GPS points in Wayne and Fayette Counties in Illinois. The data is to be used in the counties 911 systems. Work is scheduled to begin in late July of 2009 and should take a few months to complete. Joseph Darnell, GIS Specialist with Mid-West GIS has been named Project Manager for the project.

Mid-West GIS is pleased to be working with Adams Electric Cooperative out of Camp Point, Illinois by assisting in the maintenance and up-keep of their GIS database. Adams Electric Cooperative already has an extensive GIS system in place, which is being used on a daily basis. Mid-West GIS will assist by providing GIS data conversion and maintenance services on an ongoing basis, as well as GPS Training and Data Collection in the future.

Mid-West GIS has proud to welcome Thomas Felsmaier to our workforce. Thomas has a degree in Geography from the University of Florida. His primary responsibility will be GPS data collection in the field, and converting that data into GIS databases in the office.

Mid-West GIS has been contracted to collect GPS data of billboards along Highway 63 in Adair County, Missouri. Attributes of the billboards, along with digital photos, will be incorporated into an ESRI Geodatabase for use in the existing County GIS System.

Mid-West GIS has been awarded a contract by the Jersey County Highway Department to collect GPS data and digital photography for bridges and culverts on County maintained roads. The data will be incorporated into exisitng GIS information created by Mid-West GIS in 2008 that included a GPS Sign Inventory.

Mid-West GIS is proud to announce the finalization of our Central Contractors Registration at ccr.gov. This will open the door to opportunities to do work with the Fedaral Government. This has also certified Mid-West GIS as a Small Business, and Emerging Small Business with the Small Business Administration which is based on the type of work, number of employees, and the annual revenue generated by the company.

Mid-West GIS is proud to announce the we are now a Woman Owned Business. Jennifer L. McDermott has officially become majority shareholder, and will be nominated as Secretary at our next Board Meeting. Mid-West GIS has been contracted to create an interactive Bridge and Culvert Inventory for the Crawford County Highway Department. Bridge and culvert points will be collected using a combination of highly accurate GPS and high resolution digital photography. The data will then be incorporated into an existing Geodatabase for use in maintaining these assets for the County Highway Department.

Mid-West GIS has announced the release of a new GIS website for the City of Pampa, Texas. The site includes multiple city-wide data layers that were created by Mid-West GIS in 2008. The uniqueness of the site is that the client does not have to purchase a server or software to develop the site, it is all provided as part of the project by Mid-West GIS. Mid-West GIS has been contracted to create an Sign Inventory for Stookey Township in St. Claire County, IL. This will be a complete inventory of all Regulatory and Warning signs for the Township roads using highly accurate GPS equipment. The Township will now being using ArcView to maintain their sign inventotory in a GIS environment.

Mid-West GIS has been contracted to collect sign inventory data for County and Township roads in Sangamon County, Illinois. The data will be collected using GPS equipment, and incorporated into a geodatabase for use in the county GIS system. Reports will also be generated to be used for the Rural Sign Upgrade program in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Transportation, which replaces rural signs that are not up to standards.

Waco Independent School District located in Waco, Texas selects Mid-West GIS as its preferred GIS services vendor. Mid-West GIS will be providing GIS consulting services as well as data conversion services to Waco ISD. Mid-West GIS, Inc. has been selected as a statewide semifinalist for the Innovate Illinois competition. There were over 130 companies that applied to Innovate Illinois, and Mid-West GIS, Inc. was one of only 32 chosen to be a semifinalists. This is quite an accomplishment. The next step in the competition is presenting a five minute fast pitch at the semifinals in Chicago on September 26. Shane McDermott, President, will present the fast pitch on a service provided using GIS Technology.
